CAMC Club Site Review Cherry Hinton

Cherry Hinton, just outside of Cambridge is probably one of our nearest Caravan Club Sites. We have family in Cambridge and visit every now and then. Rather than stay in their house we prefer the comfort and space of our Bailey Cartagena so we visit relatives and go back to our welcoming and comfortable Bailey to sleep. It works out very well for us.

Site Overview

Very easy access from the M11, only a five minute drive from the motorway. Not the biggest of sites and some pitches can be a bit dark. From memory it’s in an ex-quarry, so surrounded by “cliffs” on some of the sides and with the trees certain pitches can be a bit dark.

Toilet Blocks

Only one toilet block on site and this is enough for the size of the site. Always clean and one of a growing number of sites with Radio two playing. Volume is low enough to just enjoy the background noise whilst you get on with whatever it is you get on with in the toilet block. Laundry facilities, dishwashing area and chemical toilet facilities.

Site Access

Near to M11. Depending on which way you come down Lime Kiln Lane it can be a tight turn getting onto site. Just make sure you leave enough room on the turn if you’re coming in with the site on your left. See our video below for a good view of the site and entrance.

Water, waste, chemical toilet point
Remember to flush!

Wardens

Friendly, we went in October for this visit and the shop wasn’t well stocked (no eggs or bacon). We only popped in on the off chance, there’s a Tesco not far and a pub at the end of the road (we didn’t visit)

Conclusion

A small friendly site near Cambridge City Centre. A little dark in places (some pitches) lovely and clean. Music in the toilet a big bonus for us, well me. I can sit in the warm listening to Radio Two which is something I rarely do otherwise. (Listen to Radio 2 I mean, not sitting in the warm) Not much more to say about this site really, it’s near the City, it’s clean, well looked after and pleasant to stay at, which is all you need in my opinion.

Some pitches very shady
