Aquaroll Review
Aquaroll.
What is it and how is it used?
One of the basic things you'll need is something to hold your fresh water in. You know, the stuff that comes out of the tap when you turn it on at home. It's an infinite resource at home, but you'll quickly find out that things are just a little different when caravanning, after all you're not hook up to anything at first.
These come in two colours, beige, and grey. It comes with the metal handle and this easily attaches to both ends at the butt and makes it easier to pull along. This prevents it from rolling away out of control making an awful mess of someone else's awning..T
here are other water carrying vessels available, but certainly onsite the Aquaroll is king. We have had a 51 litre in the past, but for our caravan it was too high and meant the water pipe had to bend and could reach the end of the butt, meaning you needed to fill up before the water had run out. You can place it on it's side, but that too wasn't as practical for us. We used it for about four years, after all, these things aren't cheap so we stuck at it. But have recently changed to the regular 40 litre Aquaroll.
These are priced at around £60 for the 40 litre Aquaroll. The 51 litre WaterHog is cheaper and obviously larger, but for us, having used the WaterHog it's a bit too big. This also makes it heavier when rolling, but it does hold more water, so in theory you'd need to fill it up less.If your caravan doesn't come with the connecting pipe, you'll need to buy one. This drops into the butt and attaches to the caravan and the water is pumped into the caravan as you need it.
A very handy addition is the filler tube, this allows you to attach one end to a tap and the other drops into your butt. Some newer caravans have an onboard tank, much like motorhomes do, but generally people use a butt to fill the internal tank. Motorhomes would drive up to the motorhome service point and fill their tank from the hose.
Aquaroll come with a rather amazing TEN year warranty, but then they are very well made and there's not a great deal that can be "faulty" with them.
